The National Basketball Facilities Project (NBFP)
Based on the huge success of the first ABC in Manchester, The Amaechi Basketball Centres Foundation (ABC Foundation) and the new sister leisure company, ABC Sportactive, now intend to deliver, through the National Basketball Facilities Project (NBFP), 7 further purpose built community basketball facilities. The target sites are London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bradford, Newcastle, Plymouth and Manchester.

An ABC is not only designed to deliver on key Government children’s policy and initiatives but also, to provide positive life pathways and to mentor the individual and the family. Last but by no means least, notably via the best basketball coaches in the country, and our own John Amaechi, an ABC also provides pathways to sporting excellence through our unique four stream development programme and through our ongoing relationships with the sports governing bodies; England Basketball (EB), Federation Internationale de Basketball (FIBA), the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the American college network.

Man in the Middle
Man in the Middle chronicles John Amaechi’s extraordinary journey from awkward, overweight English lad to jet-setting NBA star. In this poignant and intimate memoir, Amaechi takes us into the hyper-masculine world of professional sports and into the very centre of his soul. As tender as it is brutally frank, Man in the Middle follows him from the rough streets of Manchester to Penn State (where he first achieved basketball stardom) to the cities (Orlando, Houston, Salt Lake City) and countries (U.S.A, Greece, France) in which he played.
